FORT LIBERTY, N.C. - The Department of the Army announced the deployment of the 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters, Sept. 20. The Division will deploy from Fort Liberty, N.C., this fall.
Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters will replace Soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division Headquarters and will maintain the U.S. force posture in the region. 10th Mountain Division is scheduled to return following a nine-month deployment that began in March 2023.
“The 82nd Airborne Division is proud to once again answer our nation’s call to deter our adversaries and secure NATO’s eastern flank,” said Maj. Gen. Christopher LaNeve, commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division. “Our Paratroopers are highly trained and capable to carry out this mission as we stand shoulder to shoulder with our European Allies and partners in the region.”
This deployment will mark the Division’s second rotation to the region since their return from Eastern Europe in August 2022. The Division will join various other units on NATO’s Eastern Flank in support of the unrelenting U.S. commitment to regional Allies in Europe.
