Town Hall for Transition to Military Health System Genesis

Military Health System Genesis is the new electronic health record for military treatment facilities. It integrates inpatient and outpatient electronic health records across the continuum of care from the point of service to the military treatment facility.

MHS Genesis is integral in provision and coordination of safe, quality care. BG Crawford F. Sams Health Clinic on Camp Zama and other MTFs across the Pacific will transition to MHS Genesis Oct. 28.

MEDDAC – Japan will continue to share more information about this new system. Please keep an eye on their Facebook page.

MEDDAC-J will also host a town hall meeting Aug. 29 beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Camp Zama Community Club. More details are to follow.

Community Noise Advisory

Please be aware that you’ll likely hear loud booming noises—similar to fireworks—near Camp Zama at different times throughout the day during a festival being held Aug. 30 at the nearby Zama Shrine.

You can expect to hear the noise at 9 and 10 a.m.; noon; and 4 and 6 p.m. There is no need to be alarmed.

Bicycle Roundup Campaign

A “bicycle roundup” campaign kicked off here Aug. 10. Military police will begin tagging unregistered bicycles and scooters found on Camp Zama and Sagamihara Family Housing Area. The campaign is intended to encourage residents and employees to register their bicycles and scooters as per installation policy.

Bicycle and scooter owners can register their vehicles at the Vehicle Registration Office on Camp Zama. No documentation is necessary when registering, but owners will need to provide their vehicle’s make, model, serial number and color. Owners will then receive a registration sticker to be placed on their vehicle.

The registration is a one-time requirement and does not require renewal for the duration of the owner’s tour in Japan. Call the Vehicle Registration Office at 263-4810 for further information.

Labor Day 5K Run

MWR will host a Labor Day 5K Run Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. in front of the gym on Sagamihara Family Housing Area.

The run is free to enter and is worth Commander’s Cup points. There will be both men’s and women’s divisions, and you can register by visiting the front desk at Yano Fitness Center, or by visiting the registration table at the event site on the day of the run.
