YAKIMA TRAINING CENTER, Wash. — Army Reserve Ambassador (retired) Mary Miller received "The Order of the 88th" medal from Maj. Gen. Matthew Baker, commanding general of the 88th Readiness Division.

ARAs are volunteers with significant ties to their communities who operate at state and local levels and voluntarily represent the Chief of the Army Reserve.

Miller, a longtime resident of Yakima, returned on May 19, to attend the Yakima Training Center, Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility ribbon cutting ceremony.

After the ribbon cutting, Maj. Gen. Baker recognized Miller for her many years of dedicated service to the U.S. Army Reserve and the state of Washington as an ARA.

'The Order of the 88th' originated when the 88th Division was in France during World War I and was re-instituted in 1985 with the intent to recognize individuals who had given beyond themselves and placed the welfare of all soldiers and families ahead of personal gain.
