(FORT SILL, Oklahoma, March 29, 2023) — In a matter of hours, the Fort Sill Morale, Welfare, Recreation team expanded by more than 10 people. MWR held a Hiring Fair March 29 at the Patriot Club in search of Child and Youth Service program assistants, recreation aids, lifeguards, cooks, and more.

"It was a great turnout. Of the 24 people that stopped by, 14 started the process," said Sarah Gersper, Child Youth Services director.

"The most unique applicant we had was an arborist. He applied for both the Golf labor position and for the Recycle Center," said Gersper.

The Hiring Fair was meant to expedite the process of hiring employees. Applicants were asked to bring resumes, education experience, and documentation for any preferences or priority placement.

"Any day that you can garner 14 potential employees in a four-hour period is a good day," said Gersper. "An individual going through the normal hiring process might spend two weeks applying, interviewing, being selected, completing background paperwork, and obtaining fingerprints. The Hiring Fair allows us to streamline that process into a 4-hour window of time."
