Bavaria – thank you for the privilege of serving and living here, it has been one of the best experiences of my life. I am but a small part of an already incredible community. Because the accomplishments and achievements of the Garrison and community were all due to your dedication, commitment, selfless service, and support, and I thank you all for being good neighbors and even better teammates.

The thought of leaving Bavaria has been the most emotional and challenging of my entire military career. Over the past 18 months serving as your Garrison Command Sergeant Major, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know many of you at a personal level, and I am forever affected by the impact you’ve made on me and my Family. As I reflect on my time serving the Garrison, I can only hope that I met your needs and expectations, and that I was able to inspire you like you’ve inspired me.

I could always count on our Garrison directorates and mission partners to go above and beyond to deliver quality services and execute world-class ceremonies and events. I could always count on our community members to step-up and step-in to leadership or supporting roles, or participate in committees or councils, which enabled us to continue to have programs for our youth, such as scout troops or seasonal sports. Your involvement and demonstrated commitment contributed tremendously to the continued success of our Garrison.

To our Host Nation, Danke Schoen, for always making us feel welcome, and for your partnership and friendship! To our Soldiers/Servicemembers, Families/Dependents, and Civilian Employees (DA Civilians, Local Nationals, Contractors), thank you for choosing Bavaria! And thank you for your service and support, and for doing your part in keeping Bavaria a better place to work and call home.

If I could ask each of you to do one thing, that would be to continue treating each other, as well as yourself, with dignity and respect. If you’re a customer, don’t forget to say thank you to our service providers; for without them, our services will either be limited or nonexistent. If you’re a service provider, don’t forget to give the greeting of the day to our customers; for without them, our services will also either be limited or nonexistent.

On behalf of the Camacho Family, we personally thank you for what you do each and every day! I am forever grateful and proud to have had the privilege of being a part of your team and a member of this great community.

I’m Sebastian A. Camacho
