Army Housing Holiday Closures
Please see the following Army Housing-related holiday closures.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
All Directorate of Public Works customer service desks will be closed from Dec. 29, 2022, until Jan. 3, 2023, in observance of our local national holidays. Services will be limited to emergencies only. In case of emergency, please call the DPW customer service number for your respective area.

The Housing Office will be closed from Dec. 29, 2022, to Jan. 3, 2023.
SELF-HELP STORES:
The Sagamihara Family Housing Area Self-Help Store will be closed from Dec. 27, 2022, to Jan. 4, 2023. The Camp Zama Self-Help Store will be closed from Dec. 29, 2022, to Jan. 3, 2023.
Great Zama 'Shake Out' Drill
Zama City plans to hold “The Great Zama Shake Out” drill on Jan. 23 in an effort to better prepare its community for earthquakes by practicing the 1-2-3 safety steps of dropping, covering and holding onto something stable. The drill, which will take place at 11 a.m. and last for one minute, is a great reminder for the U.S. Army in Japan community to also practice earthquake preparedness and to have an emergency plan in place.
No-Drone Zone
All U.S. Army in Japan installations are “no-drone zones,” meaning all drone usage is prohibited. That includes the very popular toy drones.
Also be advised that Japan has strict drone usage laws and if you intend to fly one off post, you should ensure you understand those laws.
Holiday Decoration Guidance
Holiday lights and decorations in on-post housing are only authorized to be on between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. daily, except for Dec. 24 & 25 when they are authorized between 5 p.m. and midnight.
Holiday lights and decorations should be unplugged or switched off prior to going to bed or when you are away from home for extended periods of time.
Increase in Postage Prices
Effective Jan. 22, 2023, the U.S. Postal Service will increase the price of First Class Mail and Forever postage stamps.
Time Change for Booking Space-Available Appointments
The BG Sams U.S. Army Health Clinic recently changed the time for space-available patients to call for scheduling a same-day appointment. The time has changed from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m., and calls can be made to DSN 262-4175 or 046-407-4175.

Pfizer Vaccine Available for Children Ages 5 to 11

Army Recruiting Office Opens on Camp Zama
An Army recruiting office recently reopened on Camp Zama to better support potential recruits on mainland Japan following a decade-long hiatus.
