Events, discounts offered for Veterans Day

WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD, Hawaii -- Veterans Day 2022 is Friday, Nov. 11. A number of events are being held across Oahu and the rest of the country, and several retail and dining facilities are offering special deals and discounts.

Veterans Day Concert

The 25th Infantry Division Band's Tropic Rock and Lightning Jazz Project will be performing a free concert Thursday, Nov. 10 at Blue Note Hawaii in Honolulu. Veterans Challenge Coin

On Veterans Day, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service is honoring those who have served with a free collectible challenge coin. Veterans can receive the coins at the Exchange on Nov. 11 while supplies last.

Wahiawa Lions Club Veterans Day Parade
• Nov. 11, 10 a.m.
• Starts at Ka'ala Elementary School and ends at Wahiawa District Park
Line up and watch over 80 marching military units and participating bands, including the Royal Hawaiian Band, parade down the street from the Ka’ala Elementary School to the Wahiawa District Park. Ceremonies and festivities begin once the parade arrives at the park, celebrating the theme to this year’s event – Respecting Our Veterans. Veterans Day Volkswagen Car Show
• Nov. 11, 6 p.m.
• AMVETS West Oahu Veterans Center, 5001 Iroquois Ave., Ewa Beach
The AMVETS West Oahu Veterans Center will hold a Veterans Day Volkswagen Car show Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. The event is free, open to the public and will feature live entertainment and food vendors.

Warrior BBQ Ribs Championship

Veterans Day Ceremony
• Nov. 11, 10-11:30 a.m.
• National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
The Oahu Veterans Council's annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, also known as Punchbowl, will honor veterans, as well as active duty and reserve service members and their families. The event is free and open to the public, but it is recommended that attendees arrive early because parking is limited. Veterans Day Sunset Ceremony
• Nov. 11, 4:30 p.m.
• USS Missouri Memorial
Celebrate the 160th Anniversary of the Medal of Honor with a special tribute to the legacy of Senator Daniel K. Inouye. Veterans Affairs
Each year, the Veterans Day National Committee, comprised of nearly 50 Veterans-serving organizations, hosts the annual Veterans Day observance at Arlington National Cemetery. That ceremony begins at 6 a.m. Nov. 11. (11 a.m. Eastern Time).

This national event includes the wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by organizations that serve Veterans and concludes with remarks from dignitaries.
