FORT KNOX, Ky. — A few hundred Soldiers, civilians and family members from Fort Knox arrived at the ¼-mile track and 1-mile trail before dawn Sept. 30 to work on reaching the “Walking for 7,816+” goal during this year’s Sexual Harassment and Assault Response Prevention event.

Prior to the final day of a weeklong push toward the goal, officials said the installation had accomplished 1,743 miles logged, with 6,073 miles remaining.

“The event is named to remember the victims of the 7,816 reports of sexual assault across the Department of Defense in 2020,” said 2022 SHARP walk coordinator Sgt. 1st Class Diondre Jenkins, “as well as all other survivors.”

The event ran from 6:30 a.m. every day since Sept. 26 and will conclude today at 1 p.m.
