Livorno, ITALY - A 16th century canal in Italy is part of a $42 million construction project that includes a new bridge, upgrades to canal docks and a safe zone for loading and unloading ammunition. The project on the Navicelli Canal was unveiled 22 September, 2022 in a ceremony attended by U.S. and Italian military representatives.

"This infrastructure represents a tremendous investment that will significantly increase our ability to support operations both in Europe and in Africa," said Maj. Gen. Todd R. Wasmund, Commanding General, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa.

A $42 million upgrade to the Pisa Ammunition Storage Area railways and docks was unveiled at Camp Darby, Italy, September 22, 2022.
