Army Hawaii to hold Independence Day Celebration July 2
Musical performances by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and country singer Chase Rice
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii — U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii will celebrate the nation’s birthday and pay tribute to the brave men and women in the Armed Forces by hosting the Independence Day Spectacular, here, from 2-9 p.m., July 2.
This marks the first time in more than two years the annual Independence Day celebration will be hosted by U.S. Army Hawaii due to COVID. The historical and time-honored event is free and open to the public.
Musical performances kick off at 2 p.m. including Marc E. Bassy, MAX, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Chase Rice and the 25th Infantry Division Band.
Other activities include a freefall parachute demonstration by the “Black Daggers” from U.S. Army Special Operations Command, bouncy houses, yard games, food, and an awe-inspiring fireworks display to close out the night.

COVID-19 Pre-screening Required for Entry
Per Department of the Army COVID protocols for areas of high transmission, all attendees (age 5 and up) to Saturday's Independence Day Celebration are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID 19, or to have tested negative within 72 hours of the event.
For your convenience, U.S. Army Hawaii has developed a simple online screening tool for all attendees (or groups of up to 15 members of the same household) that will be made available 72 hours prior to the event. After answering the screening questions, individuals/groups are provided a green confirmation screen to be presented at the venue entry control points and is valid for the entire celebration event.

Installation Access and Parking for General Public:
Visitors who do not possess a military ID must enter Schofield Barracks through Foote Gate on Kunia Road. Traffic control personnel will direct visitors to park on Watts Field, and a shuttle will take them to the event. All vehicles parked on Watts Field must be removed within 72 hours after the event or will be towed. All vehicle occupants 16 years of age and older must present a valid state or government photo ID, and the vehicle driver must provide a current driver's license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance and safety check. COVID-19 Pre-screening is required for all attendees ages 5 and up. Coolers, backpacks and bags are subject to inspection. No pets, glass bottles or illegal substances to include marijuana (even if medically prescribed).
Prohibited Items
- Backpacks, briefcases, luggage, or duffel bags (Diaper bags, coolers, and small purses are permitted)
- Drones of any kind, including but not limited to: UAVs, RPAs, or UASes
- Glass Bottles
- Illegal Substances to include marijuana (even if medically prescribed)
- Offensive or profane messages or images on signs and clothing
- Pets (Service animals are permitted)
- Laser pointers
- Noise making devices (e.g. air horns, drums, whistles)
- Skateboards, hover boards, rollerblades, scooters and bicycles
No Weapons of any kind, including but not limited to:
Firearms (with or without permit), Pocket knives and/or Multi-tools, Pepper Spray or Mace, Flares or Fireworks.
For your safety and the safety of others, guests and their possessions are subject to inspection as a condition of admittance. Please have your bags open and available for inspection. Military Police Officers reserve final decision on items brought into the venue. Intoxicated patrons may be denied admittance to the field.
