Dennis Teefy, Project Director Sensors-Aerial Intelligence (PD SAI), presided over a Change of Charter ceremony in which Lt. Col. Melvin Mitchell, the outgoing Product Manager Aerial Enhanced Radars, Optics, and Sensors (PM AEROS), handed over the charter to Douglas Haskin, the incoming PM AEROS last month at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

During the ceremony, Mitchell received the Meritorious Service Medal, a Program Executive Office Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (PEO IEW&S) Certificate of Appreciation, and a PEO IEW&S coin.

PM AEROS was first established in June 2020 when PD SAI merged Product Manager Electro-Optic/Infrared (PM EO/IR) Payloads and Product Manager Sensors-Unmanned and Rotary Wing (PM SURW) into one product office. As the first PM AEROS, Mitchell led the charge in successfully merging the two Program Management Offices. Mitchell was also instrumental in performing environmental, integration, and qualification testing for the Shadow electro-optical/infrared/laser designator (EO/IR/ID) (SHEILD) payload onto the Shadow Block I and Block III. Through his leadership, the PM AEROS team successfully completed a Follow-on Operational Test & Evaluation (FOT&E) in 2021 and the SHEILD payload received a conditional material release. The SHEILD payload has completed six fielding/New Equipment Training events in coordination with the Shadow Block III and is scheduled to field until FY24.

For his next assignment, Mitchell will serve as the Executive Officer to the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (ASA(ALT)) Principal Deputy (PDEP) at the Pentagon.

Haskin has previously served in three different Program Executive offices. His previous acquisition assignments include Chief of the Fielding and Sustainment Team for the Battle Command Sustainment Support System (BCS3), Chief of the Logistics and Documentation Team for the Distributed Common Ground System – Army (DCGS-A), Deputy Product Director for the Transportation Information Systems (TIS) program, Deputy and Acting Project Director for the Enterprise Services (ES) program, and Product Lead for the Computer Hardware Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) program. His most recent assignment was on the ASA(ALT) staff , where he served as the Branch Chief for the Acquisition Policy branch within the Acquisition Reporting and Management (ARM) Directorate.
