FORT KNOX, Ky. — International bestselling author Damien Lewis will discuss his newest book, Churchill’s Great Escapes: Seven Incredible Escapes Made by WWII Heroes, in a June 8 livestream event at Barr Memorial Library, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Lewis will discuss Churchill’s Great Escapes, which is his newest nonfiction book. Dedicated to all those who escaped the clutches of the enemy to continue the fight against Nazi tyranny, the book presents seven stories that represent the spirit, daring and heroic tales of British SAS soldiers. These stories of pioneering escape and evasion techniques span from the earliest years of the Second World War until its final stages.

Lewis worked with the families of the men profiled in his book and had access to family and military documents, diaries, private papers, photographs, and memorabilia to bring these stories to life.

Lewis is an award-winning historian, war reporter and bestselling author. He spent over two decades covering war, disaster and conflict zones around the world. He has written more than a dozen books about World War II, including Churchill’s Band of Brothers, Churchill’s Shadow Raiders, and Smoky the Brave. Lewis’ stories have been published in over 40 languages, and many of his works have been optioned for film, television and theater. He is married with four children and lives in the Dorset region of England.

Lewis will be appearing virtually at the Library via livestream. This event is free and open to the public, although seating is limited. Email barrlibraryevents@gmail.com to reserve a seat today. Participants can also connect using Microsoft Teams.
