PŌHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, HILO, HAWAII — Military units are scheduled to conduct vehicle convoys from Kawaihae Harbor to Pōhakuloa Training Area (PTA) on May 21 between 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Convoys between Kawaihae and PTA are planned to minimize impacts on local motorists on Hawaii Island. Military leaders plan select areas along the route to pull-over and allow motorists to pass safely in the interest of reducing backed-up traffic.

The military appreciates the understanding and continued support of the Hawaii Island community. While sometimes these convoys create delays, the movement of vehicles to and from ports is critical to ensure military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely when deployed.

To report concerns related to the convoys contact U.S. Army Hawaii’s Community Concern Line at (808) 656-3487 or usarmy.hawaii.comrel@mail.mil . Concerns are responded to during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
