FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — On May 6, the Friday before Mother’s Day, we will celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Since the early days of the Continental Army, military spouses have selflessly contributed to the strength of our armed forces by caring for and supporting our service members.

Military spouses make sacrifices alongside their service member through deployments, permanent changes of station, long training days and the uncertainties of military life. Service members rely on their spouses and families for comfort, joy and stability. Military spouses display a tremendous amount of resilience and courage while adapting to new environments and communities.

Caring for our people is our priority. For our military to meet the needs of the nation, service members need to know that their families are safe and taken care of. Fort Leonard Wood is committed to continuously improving the quality of life for and investing in our families across programs, including opening the renovated Abrams Theater, continuing our housing area mayoral program and walking town halls, and improving access to childcare, healthcare and employment opportunities for spouses.

On May 6, Army Community Service is hosting a Military Spouse Appreciation Day celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the ACS building, Bldg. 486. Events include go-karting, paint ball and Zumba — classes will also be available on nutrition, finance, military spousal employment preference, resume writing and more. Call ACS at 573.596.0212 for details.

We deeply appreciate the service and contributions that military spouses make here on Fort Leonard Wood and in the surrounding communities. We are proud to serve with you!
