I am pleased to announce that Mr. Young Bang has been officially appointed to serve as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology). Mr. Bang will have a major role as the Principal Deputy to identify opportunities to update and improve the way Army Acquisition develops, procures, and updates software, uses data, and develops AI. He will also be involved in modernizing the way the Army budgets for software by synchronizing Software R&D, Procurement and sustainment efforts. He will also advise me on all other ASA(ALT) issues.
Mr. Bang, a former Army officer and graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, will play an important role in these efforts due to his extensive experience in the private sector software industry. He most recently served as chief growth officer at Atlas Research. Prior to that, he was a Partner and Senior Vice President of Booz Allen Hamilton, focusing on cutting edge technologies such as quantum computing, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and Digital Transformation. His other private sector experience includes stints with KPMG Consulting, MCI WorldCom, and Ciena.
Mr. Bang’s extensive background in the software industry, coupled with his experience as an Army officer, will prove beneficial not just in software acquisition, but in the development, procurement, and fielding, as well as life cycle management of all Army systems.
