Convoy advisory (Update) for Pōhakuloa Training Area

PŌHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, HILO, HAWAII — Military units are scheduled to conduct vehicle convoys from Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) to Kawaihae Harbor March 12 and 13 between 8 a.m.-noon.

Convoys are planned to minimize impacts on local motorists on Hawaii Island. Military leaders plan select areas along the route to pull-over and allow motorists to pass safely in the interest of reducing backed-up traffic.

The military appreciates the understanding and continued support of the Hawaii Island community. While sometimes these convoys create delays, the movement of vehicles to and from ports is critical to ensure military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely when deployed.

To report concerns related to the convoys, noise or training, contact U.S. Army Hawaii’s Community Concern Line at (808) 656-3487 or usarmy.hawaii.comrel@mail.mil . Concerns are responded to during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
