DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. – Command Sgt. Maj. Jerry Charles, U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, challenges local Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets to lead using the six “R”s.

“The six ‘R’s of leadership,” Charles told the group of approximately 25 Center Line High School students during his early morning Nov. 5 visit, “Are ‘Right, Relationship, Results, Reproduce, Respect and Reputation.”

Charles expanded on each of the Rs, correlating to having authority to lead, creating good relationships, getting desired results, building future leaders, earning the respect of others and building a strong reputation, respectively. All, he told the high school JROTC cadets, were necessary components of becoming a successful leader.
