Fort Gordon’s annual Fall Festival and Flea Market is returning to Barton Field on Sept. 30 through Oct. 3.

This year’s event will have a large carnival company featuring a 100-foot Vertigo tower swing, Ferris wheel, and many other rides for all ages and levels of thrill seeking. The carnival will also have a midway area with food vendors and games.

The carnival will open at 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 with a specially priced “all you can ride” wristband for those who wish to purchase one. Wristband pricing will vary Oct. 1-3.

Attendees will be greeted with Oktoberfest themed festivities on Oct. 1, which will include an authentic keg-tapping ceremony featuring Fort Gordon’s German liaison officers and members of the Fort Gordon command team. There will also be German food, beer, cider and wine available for purchase throughout the weekend, along with several vendors selling traditional carnival fare.

There will be a Vendor Village with more than 30 craft and direct sales vendors Oct. 1-2. Terry Cavanagh and Alpine Express will be returning this year for live music performances during those two days.

Oct. 2 will feature a Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., hosted by DFMWR and the Fort Gordon Spouses and Civilians Club.

In addition to the carnival, food and shopping, there will free to low-cost activities for all ages.

“We will have the ever-popular hay maze and kid’s giant paint wall, as well as the Fort Gordon Vet Clinic will be on site with local rescues offering pet adoptions, said Danielle Hayes, special events coordinator with the Recreation Division, DFMWR.

Social distancing will be encouraged, and masks will be required, per installation regulation.

“There will be handwashing and sanitizing stations on the field as well, as we just want attendees to stay safe while enjoying the event,” Hayes said.

Admission is free and open to the public. Those 18 and older without a military ID card will be required to present a driver’s license or state-issued ID upon entry to the installation.

“We would love for everyone, including the off-post community in the CSRA, to come enjoy the event and carnival,” Hayes said.

Spaces for the Flea Market are limited. The deadline to reserve a spot, unless spaces sell out first, is noon on Thursday. Download the application from the Fort Gordon MWR website at: gordon.armymwr.com. Anyone interested in a spot or with questions can call 706-791-4300.
