FORT KNOX, Ky. – Fort Knox shoppers will soon be able to take advantage of a grocery pickup program being implemented at commissaries across the country – the CLICK2GO system.

According to Markel Lindsey, store administrator at the Fort Knox Commissary, there are many benefits to this new online shopping opportunity. CLICK2GO offers an option for those who would prefer to have an employee assemble their items rather than come into the store.

The first day to use the service is just around the corner: “Our tentative launch date for accepting internet orders is next week on or about Aug. 3 or 4,” said Lindsey.

One of the hopes with offering CLICK2GO is for the commissary to now be competitive with off-post grocery stores that already offer curbside services, according to Lindsey. He said the employees are all anxious to get started.

“This is something a lot of people have been looking forward to,” said Lindsey. “We’re all very excited; very enthusiastic about the program.”

While the commissary has been promoting the new program with signage and the distribution of flyers within the facility, Lindsey said customers can go online to learn more.

“They can go to our website and read up on all of the information that’s available for them,” said Lindsey. “They can look at the ease of utilizing this service, then make the decision if it’s conducive for them.”

The program information page at commissaries.com offers many answers to questions customers might have regarding the system. They can click on the words “How CLICK2GO works” to find details. Once an account has been created on the site, shoppers can log in any time to place an order.

Lindsey said those interested in taking advantage of the program should find the steps simple.

“The patron will go to the website, select the groceries that they want to put in their cart, and the order will be sent to us and picked,” said Lindsey. “At the timeslot the patron requests, they just pull into one of the five CLICK2GO parking slots and call to let us know they’re there.

“It should be a very seamless transaction.”

A full list of available items can be found on the website by selecting the commissary location from which shoppers plan to make their pickup. Lindsey said in addition to prepackaged items, shoppers can include deli items and produce in their orders: they simply have to specify how much they’d like to purchase of those items.

Lindsey said with the CLICK2GO option available, there’s potential that the commissary will see patrons who preferred taking advantage of services like these off post to return and do their shopping on the installation.

“We always strive to get new customers into the store,” said Lindsey. “It’s always our top priority, and also our loyal customers who come here every day. We work hard and diligently to keep those customers.”

Multiple employees have already been trained to execute CLICK2GO shopping for customers. Lindsey said those employees are now training others in preparation for the program launch, which will help the commissary continue to improve customers’ overall experience.

“Adding another layer of service is a great thing,” said Lindsey. “It shows that the commissary is always working and looking to the future to make things better for our customer base.”

Lindsey said CLICK2GO is just one of the many ways the commissary has been upgrading its programs and services for patrons, and he’s proud of what these additions show.

“I’m very optimistic about the direction this agency is going,” said Lindsey, “and the things that we’re doing to better the shopping experience.”
