AFC data scientist wins Women of Color STEM Award

PITTSBURGH, Penn. – A data scientist at the Army Futures Command's Army Artificial Intelligence Integration Center will receive one of industry's top honors in science, technology, engineering, and math during the Women of Color STEM Conference — Digital Twin Experience Oct. 7-9.

Capt. Jessica Zhu will be honored at the WOC DTX 2021 — a Multicultural Event — under this year's theme, "Reset to Rise: It's A New Day!"

"Jessica was selected because she is among an extraordinary group of forward-thinking people in STEM," said Monica Emerson, National Chair of the Women of Color in STEM Conference. "This year, the nominees represented the most diverse collection of executive professionals we have had the pleasure of evaluating. From managers to vice presidents, they stand out as superior authorities in their respective fields."

In his recommendation for Zhu, Col. Dave Bradshaw, Deputy Director of Army Artificial Intelligence, said, “Jessica is an amazing young officer. She has a unique background and technical skills that will help her lead our Army into the future. The opportunities for Jessica are limitless and we are so proud to have her as a part of our team.”

The Army Artificial Intelligence Integration Center, established in October 2018, serves as an integrator for the various science and technology and developmental engineering AI efforts across the Army Modernization Enterprise.
