ATLANTA - Atlanta native and Army astronaut Shane Kimbrough was honored at the Atlanta Braves baseball game June 26 at Turner Field.

After meeting many players and coaches, speaking to the crowd and signing

autographs for the fans, Kimbrough and his son Zack announced for the players

to "play ball."

Kimbrough joined the NASA team at the Johnson Space Center in September 2000. He was selected as an astronaut candidate in 2004. Kimbrough completed his

first space flight in November 2008 aboard STS-126 Endeavour, logging a total

of 15 days, 20 hours, 29 minutes and 37 seconds in space, and 12 hours and 52

minutes of extravehicular activity in two space walks.

Kimbrough flew Braves third baseman Chipper Jones' jersey into space during his mission. On his trip to Turner Field, he presented the jersey back to Jones.

The Boston Red Sox won the game 4-1.
