xTechSearch is a competition for small businesses – sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology), also known as ASA(ALT) – designed to attract non-traditional small businesses who are working on transformative technology solutions that can be applied to help solve the Army’s challenges.

“The xTechSearch competition is executed to spur innovation in the system, break down barriers to working with the Army and, ultimately, accelerate technology development for the Army and propel American businesses toward enduring commercial viability and success” said Dr. Matt Willis, Director of Army Prize Competitions & Army Applied Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, Research and Technology (DASA R&T).

Finalists were selected after the 20 semifinalists pitched their technology solutions virtually to a panel of Army experts via livestream on March 2 and 3, 2021.

Each finalist will receive $120,000 and an invitation to the xTechSearch 5 Finals to present their proof-of-concept demonstration. The finals are planned to take place in the Fall of 2021 with more information forthcoming.

In addition, Dr. Willis noted that Finalists “will have the unique opportunity to participate in the xTech Accelerator, which provides them with education, training, community building, and mentorship to help companies be successful in transitioning their technology solutions to the Army.”
