WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Army Expeditionary Technology Search (xTechSearch) Program team today announced that 388 white papers were submitted for the program’s fifth iteration, which closed to entries on March 31. The number surpassed the 351 white papers received during the launch of xTechSearch 4 in 2019.

The Army xTechSearch Program provides small businesses the opportunity to present new technologies that support the Army's modernization priorities. Each competition iteration starts with a white paper proposal.

“We broke a record,” said Zeke Topolosky, xTechSearch Program Manager. “The increasing interest in the Army xTechSearch Program demonstrates the commitment of the American small business and technology ecosystem to innovation, even during challenging times.”

The xTechSearch 5 call for white papers opened on February 21 and ended at midnight on March 31. The record number of submissions are currently being vetted; those selected will be invited to present during the Technology Pitch Days this July and August. Invitations will be sent on May 11, 2020.

If you missed out on applying to compete in xTechSearch 5, the Army Futures Command is hosting a new competition called the Innovation Combine, sponsored by xTechSearch and the Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command. Innovation Combine is seeking companies that can provide an innovative approach to solving a specific problem in either scalable power and energy solutions, or novel materials for weight reduction and survivability. White paper applications for Innovation Combine are due April 15.
