LIMA, Peru – During the first week of March, members of the Inter-American Air Force Academy, the West Virginia National Guard and the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, joined Peruvian Armed Forces officers and NCOs for a professional development seminar in Lima, Peru.As part of SOUTHCOM’s continued efforts of professional development of the military forces in his Area of Operations (AO), the purpose of the second iteration was to continue to enhance officer and NCO formal instruction programs.“The relationships that will be made and the continual progress that will result from this seminar will be of great benefit to all,” said USAF Staff Sgt. Soleine Izquierdo, IAAFA team member.This event is one of many SOUTHCOM is generating as part of their continued engagement with the militaries on the AO, as depicted by Admiral Craig S. Faller during his presentation of SOUTHCOM’s 2020 Posture Statement to members of the U.S. Senate Services Committee on January 30, 2020.WHINSEC representative at the seminar, U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major Jose S. Lopez added, “In order to continue efforts of professionally developing the military forces in SOUTHCOM's AOR we all must work as a team. The collaboration of IAAFA, WHINSEC and the West Virginia NG is a great example of how we all need to work together towards the same goal.”
