JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. -- Lincoln Military Housing awarded two Joint Base Lewis-McChord families with the Home Pride Award Feb. 25 during a presentation at the Lincoln Military Housing corporate office.

This year's winners, Sgt. Eliezer and Mrs. Gloria Ortiz-Laureano from the Discovery Village community and Spc. Trevor and Mrs. Sara Malace from the Clarkdale community received gift packages for a weekend stay at the Alderbrook Resort and Spa in Union, Wash.

Sergeant Ortiz-Laureano is assigned to 1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division and Spc. Trevor Malace is assigned to 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.

The Home Pride competition is a joint endeavor between Lincoln Military Housing and the JBLM Directorate of Public Work's Housing Division.

The competition is a quarterly event where homes are judged on interior and exterior design choices, cleanliness and overall aesthetic.

Finalists for the annual award are chosen each quarter and can be nominated by the service member's command, neighbors or by self-nomination.

"When you take great pride in your homes, it spreads to the rest of the community," said Col. Skye Duncan, JBLM Garrison commander. "I'm very glad that Lincoln is recognizing these families with these rewards."
