GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- After a long wait, service members, government employees and their families stationed in U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria will finally be able to attend services at the Tower Barracks Chapel.

The grand reopening of the Tower Barracks Chapel, Bldg. 621, located on the corner across from the USO building, was held today, Oct. 16.

"It is a wonderful place where a Protestant, a Catholic and a Rabbi can sit down and share dialogue," said Col. Kenneth Sorenson, Installation Management Command Directorate -- Europe Chaplain.

"The project of the Tower Barracks Chapel renovation will modernize the facility with construction and religious interior enhancements," said Lt. Col. Henry Soussan, deputy garrison chaplain, USAG Bavaria.

The project to recondition the Chapel was submitted in June of 2017. The USAG Bavaria Chaplaincy leadership decided to give the structure a more up-to-date presence.

"The Tower Barracks Chapel has been in use for over four decades and over the years has seen heavy wear and tear," said Soussan.

The project leaders are pleased with the possibilities the new edifice brings to the area.

"Tower Barracks Chapel offers the community a new and beautiful place of worship," said Soussan.

The newly renovated Chapel will have Jewish and Eastern Orthodox services and weekday Catholic service available to community members.

"Tower Barracks Chapel, in a spirit of tolerance and acceptance, will be open to all. Be it to pursue their spiritual path within a formal framework, or through dialogue and discussion with the Priest, the Pastor and the Rabbi in the form of periodic panel discussions on morality, ethics and faith that the Religious Support Office intends to establish within the Chapel," said Soussan.

USAG Bavaria provides religious services to all community members to enable spiritual readiness, meet community needs and maintain a quality of life within our garrison.
