Fort Leonard Wood is scheduled to celebrate the 78th birthday of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps as they hold their 2019 Regimental Week Sept. 23 through 28.

The theme of this year's regimental week is "Protect the force today, to preserve the force tomorrow."
"(Regimental Week) is all about celebrating our past, present and future achievements made by all of our MP Soldiers and leaders," said Col. Curtis Schroeder, U.S. Army Military Police School deputy commandant. "It is important to spend time reflecting on all we have done in the defense of our nation."
The corps will kick off their anniversary celebration with the Regimental Memorial Tribute at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 in Memorial Grove. The ceremony is dedicated to honoring fallen military police Soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
"My recommendation for anyone who can only choose to attend one event would be the Memorial Tribute," said Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Bennett, USAMPS command sergeant major. "Taking the time to remember those comrades who are no longer with us is a somber reminder of what the meaning of freedom truly is."
On Sept. 25, the MPs will cast their lines at 5:30 a.m. at the Lake of the Ozarks for their Regimental Bass Tournament.
Also taking place that day is the Military Police Spouses Challenge "Order of the Cross Pistols," beginning at 7:30 a.m. and the Regimental Ride beginning at noon.
A Regimental Run is slated to begin at 6 a.m. Sept. 25 on Gammon Field. Civilians and retirees are welcome to participate and will be provided information upon arrival. Following the run, a cake cutting ceremony will take place with remarks by Brig. Gen. Brian Bisacre, USAMPS commandant.
Later that morning, at 10 a.m., the Regimental Trap Shoot will take place at the Outdoor Adventure Center.
The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is slated to take place at 11 a.m. Sept. 26 in Lincoln Hall Auditorium.
This ceremony honors the year's outstanding MPs and inducts them into the Military Police Hall of Fame. Following the ceremony, the photo unveiling will take place at the John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex.
A Regimental Retreat is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. that same day. All brigades and units within the regiment will be recognized on MSCoE Plaza during this time.
MPs hit the greens Sept. 27 for the Regimental Golf Retreat at the Pine Valley Golf Course at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is required.
The activities conclude Sept. 28 with the annual Regimental Ball slated for 6 p.m. at Nutter Field House. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are required for this event.
"There is no better place to attend an MP Ball than at the home of the regiment," Bennett said.
Schroeder said he is excited to be celebrating the rich history of the MP Corps.
"This week is for you and your families," he said.
