JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, FORT SAM HOUSTON, TEXAS ─ U.S. Army Installation Management Command G9 Hospitality Programs recently announced 2018 awards for lodging operations and staff of the year.
2018 Army Lodging Operation of the Year Award winners are:
Large Category (141-plus rooms): USAG Humphreys Lodging, Korea.
Medium Category (61 to 140 rooms): USAG Benelux -- Chievres Lodging, Belgium.
Small Category (1 to 60 rooms): No winner; no nominations met minimum submission qualifications.
The Lodging Operation of the Year Award program recognizes and promotes excellence in Army lodging operations annually. Nominees are identified by each installation directorate by size category, and documents are evaluated to determine adherence to Army lodging standards for service, operations and facilities.
Winning lodging organizations have staffs demonstrating exceptional management with a focus on meeting customer service needs, employee relations, financial management, and back-of-the-house systems essential to consistent operations. Each winning operation, by size category, was presented with a trophy and a monetary award, which must be used for lodging operation improvements. Each employee also received a special act cash award, as well as a lapel pin commemorating the accomplishment.
Lodging Staff Award winners are:
Employee of the Year: Richard J. Goode, maintenance worker, USAG Vicenza Lodging, Italy.
Supervisor of the Year: Ronald G. Toler, custodial worker supervisor, USAG Wiesbaden Lodging, Germany.
Manager of the Year: Mark H. Akita, lodging manager, USAG Zama Lodging, Japan.
The Army lodging employee, supervisor and manager of the year award winners were recognized for their exceptional performance of duty, specific accomplishments and outstanding customer service. The winner from each category received a special act cash award, a Civilian Service Commendation Medal and a trophy.
