HOHENFELS, Germany -- For the members of the Joint Multinational Readiness Center, a healthier option "Go for Green" is now available following the re-opening of the partly renovated dining facility "Warrior Sports Café" on U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria - Hohenfels.
The 1,467-square-meter facility can accommodate 650 patrons in a 90-minute meal period, giving it more capacity than the substitute dining facility on the base, which shut down July 28.
The renovated facility is operational and served its first meal on July 29 during a soft opening.
The official grand opening is scheduled for lunch on Aug. 26, 2019.
"I'm a fan of the new dining facility," said Patrick Rothbauer, U.S. Army Garrison Hohenfels deputy garrison manager. "It's open for an hour and a half each meal, it's centrally located and the people that work here put a lot of effort into making their customers happy."
The facility offers a set menu with a variety of meal options, all with a set price for each meal, instead of an a la carte menu. Each of the meals are prepared with modern equipment, allowing the food to be prepared faster, reducing wait time.
Patrons frequent this facility because of its convenient locations, set prices and reputable staff.
The facility is open to all service members, contractors, local nationals and the Hohenfels community members.
"Families are welcome here, too," said Timothy Haskell, assistant dining facility manager. "When your loved one is deployed and you want to eat somewhere good that's affordable and welcoming, this is open to you."

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday: Breakfast 7 -- 8 a.m., lunch 11:30 a.m. -- 1 p.m., and dinner 4:30 -- 6 p.m.
It is also open on weekends for breakfast from 8 -- 9 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. -- 1 p.m., and dinner from 3:30 -- 5 p.m.
