JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (Aug. 1, 2019) -- It's an honor to serve as your commanding general. The Mission and Installation Contracting Command delivers readiness for our nation, our Army and our Soldiers every day. Your professional excellence, strategic thinking and creativity have improved operational and institutional Army outcomes. Know that your tireless efforts directly ensure our Army is ready to fight and win tonight and dominate on future battlefields.

My promise is you will be treated with dignity and respect and have the resources, tools and training necessary to always deliver "Contracting for Soldiers." Every MICC member has a pivotal role in ensuring the business of contracting for Soldiers is timely, accurate and in the Army's best interest. We must maximize the value of every dollar to meet the national interests. I expect that all Soldiers and Army civilians will apply the values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage every day. The Army values combined with our performance standards goals and objectives are the guardrails that keep us on track to achieve our mission.

I applaud the MICC workforce for having built solid working relationships with leaders at all levels in the Training and Doctrine Command, Installation Management Command, Forces Command, Army South, Army North, Medical Command and the other commands and Army activities we support. Your consistent dialogue and collaboration with all of our mission partners deliver contracting support and materiel readiness when and how it is needed. And the MICC's success with advancing contracts to small businesses across the nation has been a key factor in the Army meeting its small business goals.

Immediately following the change of command, I had the great opportunity to sit down with the leaders of each contracting support brigade and field directorate office to hear their plans for acquisition success. During my first 100 days of command I will engage with our strategic partners to ensure our command is synchronized with the ACC and Army Materiel Command priorities to include considering their mission partners. Contracting touches everything the Army does, and it is our fundamental responsibility to ensure all that we do is nested with ACC's main focus areas of readiness, transformation and enduring tasks.

By October I plan to complete my analysis of our operational environment and specified and implied task, and announce any adjustments in mission, vision and commander's intent. Team MICC is accomplishing the mission and taking care of its people, but any successful organization must adapt to ever-changing requirements to increase our capability and remain relevant.

My husband, Dennis, and I are thrilled to be part of Team MICC. The impactful and innovative work accomplished by the 1,430 Soldiers and Army civilians every day is vital to the success of Army missions and operations at home and abroad. The Army's greatest asset is our people -- and I am proud to serve with the finest men and women our great nation has to offer. MICC members bring the intellect, capabilities and capacities of American large and small businesses to support our Soldiers, their families and the Army.

I look forward to working with every member of Team MICC. Thank you for your tremendous efforts and acquisition excellence, especially in the fourth quarter when the Army relies on the contracting enterprise and our professional workforce to meet its end-of-year acquisition needs.

Contracting for Soldiers! With Honor!
