The 8th Military Police Brigade bid farewell to Command Sgt. Maj. William E. Mayfield, the outgoing 8th MP Bde command sergeant major, and welcomed Command Sgt Maj. Mathew J. Selvaggio as the new brigade command sergeant major, May 23, 2019 during a Change of Responsibility Ceremony.

"Today, we say farewell to a man who has truly been a Soldier's Soldier," said Col. Michelle M. Goyette, 8th MP Bde, commander. "Command Sgt. Maj. Mayfield came to this brigade with a passion for taking care of soldiers."

Goyette said during his tenure, Mayfield spent countless hours advocating for soldiers, pushing for changes to improve morale and always shared his views on anything that affected our formations.

Holding the position of command sergeant major is thought of as one of the most challenging endeavors bestowed upon senior non-commissioned officers. It is a journey of it's own for one to see their military career through until retirement. For Mayfield, an impactful military career would come fruition, as this will also be his last day in his duty uniform.

"Command Sgt. Maj. Mayfield, Holly (wife), you and your family have been a true blessing to this brigade and will truly be missed," Goyette said.

Goyette concluded by welcoming Sevaggio and Christine (wife) to the Watchdog family.

"I know our soldiers are in good hands and I am incredibly excited to share this adventure with you and look forward to our conversations and your guidance," said Goyette.
