Fort Huachuca, Arizona - Members of the U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command, a major subordinate of the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, do their part in observing "Denim Day 2019," April 25 in the S4 warehouse.
The event featured a pot luck meal and the Army SHARP Jeopardy game competition. A proclamation, easily seen by all at the entrance to the building, was read and signed by all.
Denim Day is held in honor of Sexual Violence Awareness Month. It was originally observed in response to a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court, which overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. The following day, the female members of the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Since then, the Denim Day campaign has grown to encompass all sexual violence awareness, and encourages the community to show support by wearing denim jeans and a red shirt.
