Season's greetings, well health wishes

By Maj. Peter Dinh, Dear Occupational Health ClinicDecember 14, 2018

ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- Please allow me to take this time during this holiday season to offer my sincerest gratitude for all that each and every one of you do to ensure that our nation and its warfighters are battle ready.

The excitement of the winter holidays makes this one of my favorite times of the year. Yet, amidst the seasonal rush and festivities, I try to remember that our most treasured gifts do not come wrapped with brightly colored ribbon.

We, at the Dear Occupational Health Clinic, are acutely aware of the physical, mental and emotional demands of Anniston Army Depot employees as you continue to not only meet, but increasingly exceed, the expectations laid out before you.

The hard working, dedicated employees and tenants of the depot, have joined together to make this facility one of the most respected, utilized and dependable military depots in the United States.

While it is important that your personal and professional goals are met, it is of the utmost importance that you take time to consider your personal health goals as well.

You see, without your physical, mental and emotional well-being, all other goals will eventually become altered, if not altogether impossible to attain.

This holiday season, as you reflect on the past year and identify things you wish you had done differently, it is our hope you find the ability to confidently look to the coming New Year as a chance to begin making heathy choices and end bad habits impacting your health.

Some small things we all can do to be healthier are eating healthy foods and healthy portions, getting adequate sleep, exercising, staying hydrated and keeping routine appointments with your family doctor.

Simple screenings save so many lives each year.

Additionally, remember to check in on others -- the holidays are not always a happy time for some people.

It is my pleasure, along with my dedicated staff, to work alongside you, whether assuring your health maintenance through job-related screenings, providing education to help you become healthier or working with you on issues related to your health and the workplace which may never have been addressed.

The health, well-being and maintenance of a strong and healthy workforce is the core purpose of our mission at Dear Clinic.

Again, I want to personally thank you for your commitment to excellence in all you do.

From the Dear Clinic staff and our families to you and yours, we wish you safe travels, a Merry Christmas, a blessed New Year and the best of health!
