Soldiers from America's First Corps prepare for a bilateral flag raising ceremony during Yama Sakura 75 at Camp Higashi-Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan, Dec 11, 2018. American and Japanese forces raised their nations' flags in unison to represent the teamwork involved in the exercise. Yama Sakura is a joint training exercise that strengthens America's alliance with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force and commitment to assisting in keeping the region secure.
