Soldiers of 23rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, and Army reserve's 671st Multi-Role Bridge Company conducted Operation Lewis Strike July 16-21, 2018, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. The training exercise involved using an Improved Ribbon Bridge to conduct a deliberate wet-gap crossing. Elements of 23rd BEB acted as an assault element to cross Sequalitchew Lake using the emplaced bridge to reach and destroy an enemy objective.

671st Multi-Role Bridge Company conducted the wet-gap crossing as part of its biannual IRB deployment certification. The training helped build, sustain and increase mobility readiness between reserve and active components.
