Railcars loaded with Army vehicles and equipment were lined up to be unloaded Nov. 1, 2018, at the railyard at Fort McCoy, Wis.
The rail work, coordinated with the Fort McCoy Logistics Readiness Center Transportation Division, involved redeploying equipment associated with Resolute Castle 2018, said Fort McCoy Transportation Officer D.J. Eckland.
The rail offloading was completed over several days.
From the earliest days of Fort McCoy's nearly 110-year history, railways have played an important role in the post's mission, Eckland said. Whether it was transporting troops in for training during World War II or bringing in equipment and supplies for a present-day exercise on post, rail continues to be a primary mode of transportation at the installation.
Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin.
Fort McCoy lives its motto, "Total Force Training Center."
The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
