227th Medical Service Detachment train on new MultiRAE Pro VOC sampler

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCHORD, Washington (August 2, 2018) - Sgt. 1st Class SY Smith, 227th Medical Detachment (Preventive Medicine), assembles and inspects a MultiRAE Pro VOC Sampler during training at the 227th MED DET TAV.

The new MultiRAE Pro VOC Sampler test for chemical threats and gamma radiation and was recently issued by Public Health Command-Pacific to the United States Army Forces Command units to train soldiers on the interface, application, proper calibration, and routine maintenance.

This training increases the unit's readiness and sustains MOS-specific skill sets. The 227th MED DET (PM) personnel can also successfully execute occupational evaluation of known and unknown hazardous areas within their Area of Responsibility in garrison and during deployments.
