June 27 was no ordinary training day for the USC Gamecock football team -- they were on Fort Jackson for the third straight year participating in exercises designed to strengthen them as a team.

Jeff Dillman, director of football strength and conditioning at school, said that this type of training shows the team that it is about more than football.

"We are training for football but this isn't just about football; we train to win on and off the field; we train for life," he said.

Dillman praised the Soldiers who helped the team through the courses saying that they gave them a better understanding of what leadership and teamwork is all about.

"The whole crew that worked with the team today, did an unbelievable job of not only forcing them to push through things and strain and get through a little bit of pain but also, help them understand leadership qualities and what it takes to be successful."
