LANDSTUHL, Germany -- Lt. Col. Brianna M. Perata took command of Public Health Activity - Rheinland Pfalz from Lt. Col Kenneth D. Spicer, during a change of command ceremony June 1.

Spicer leaves PHA-RP for Regional Health Command Europe, where he will be the Inspector General.

Perata comes to PHA-RP from RHCE Headquarters, where she was the executive officer for the RHCE commanding general.

During her remarks, Perata expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take command, and thanked the outgoing commander for his leadership. She also expressed her excitement for her new role as commander.

"I'm privileged for the opportunity to command such an amazing unit," Perata said. "As we work to ensure the readiness of our formations, I look forward to what our time together will bring."

Public Health Command Europe Commander Col. Rebecca I. Porter presided over the ceremony, which took place at the Landstuhl Fitness Center.

Porter thanked Spicer for his service and leadership and highlighted key accomplishments during his tenure as commander. She also welcomed Perata to the PHCE team and expressed confidence in her ability to lead the PHA-RP team into the future.

PHA-RP provides comprehensive public health and veterinary medical care to military communities in Germany and Belgium, encompassing sanitary audits of commercial food establishments and provision of food safety/defense and animal medicine, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Health missions.

To support its mission, the Activity operates eight Veterinary Treatment Facilities in Germany, one VTF in Belgium, and the Veterinary Medical Center Europe - the Army's premier, forward-deployed Role IV medical and surgical center for Military Working Dogs.
