The Detroit Arsenal Senior Service College Fellows completed the capstone Military Staff Ride during the period of April 7-17, 2018.
Harsha Desai, Andy DiMarco, Mike Dunne, Lisa Gronowski,, John Hufstedler, Mike Sawyers and Munira Tourner participated in the U.S. Pacific Command Area of Responsibility (AOR) MSR. Multiple objectives were met to include exposure to Department of Defense Combatant Commands and component services, engagement with leadership, and visits to World War II historic sites where the fellows took lessons learned from historical events and discussed how they will apply them to leadership and acquisition today.
The staff ride included visits to USPACOM, Special Operations Command Pacific, Marine Forces Pacific, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pacific Air Forces and U.S. Army Pacific. The MSR included walking the battlefield of the attack on Pearl Harbor, visit to the USS Arizona Memorial, and a tour of the USS Missouri. Guides included faculty from the Army War College and Defense Acquisition University.
This capstone event provided the fellows with a hands-on learning environment and leaves a lasting impression of the lessons learned that the fellows can take back to their organizations.
