The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers welcomes the myriad of present and future partners who share common goals and interests in our recreation and natural resources. We have partners who help manage visitor centers, environmental education areas, special recreation events, and help to maintain and restore recreation areas and environmentally sensitive areas. Our partners provide millions of dollars in both dollars and in-kind contributions.
Each year the Corps offers hundreds of educational and volunteer programs at its lakes designed to help visitors appreciate and better care for the environment. The ecological diversity of Corps lakes and parks is amazing. They are home to scores of threatened or endangered species.
The Corps is dedicated to careful environmental stewardship of the 12 million acres under our control. Through partnerships with federal, state, private and non-profit organizations, fish and wildlife habitats are improved, cultural and archeological resources are protected, environmental education programs are conducted, and thousands of volunteers improve trails, plant trees, and remove weeds and trash annually.
