Aviation brigades to hold ceremony, media round table marking Atlantic Resolve transition

ILLESHEIM, Germany -- The 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, will conduct a Hand Over / Take Over (HOTO) Ceremony with 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 277 ASB Hangar at Stork Barracks.

During the ceremony, the 10th CAB will case its colors and the 1st ACB colors will be uncased to signify the Air Cav's assumption of the Atlantic Resolve mission as U.S. Army Europe's regionally allocated aviation force. The ceremony marks the first formal handover between combat aviation brigades as the U.S. Army provides a continuous, "heel to toe" armored presence in Europe to deter aggression against NATO allies and partners.

Also, media are invited to partake in a roundtable discussion prior to the ceremony with Col. Clair A. Gill, 10th CAB commander, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the 277 Hangar Conference Room in the Base Ops building. During the round table, Col. Gill will discuss how the unit has worked in support of Atlantic Resolve; and will talk about 10th CAB's key accomplishments while serving in Europe.

The HOTO ceremony indicates the 1st ACB is "ready to fight" after transporting its full equipment set of aircraft, fighting vehicles and other equipment to Germany, Latvia, Romania and Poland from its home station of Fort Hood, Texas. Following the ceremony, Air Cav will conduct a media round table at approximately 4 p.m. The occasion also signifies that the 10th CAB can return its 1,800 Soldiers and its equipment to its home station of Fort Drum, New York. Task Force Falcon since they arrived to Europe in March to initiate the U.S. Army Europe's "heel to toe" rotations of combat aviation brigades.
