2CR Deploys for Second Rotation in Poland for enhanced Forward Presence

By Capt. Judith MarloweOctober 9, 2017

Just under seven months ago, 2d Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment conducted a tactical road movement to Poland to be the first NATO enhanced Forward Presence battle group in that region and now it's 3rd Squadron's turn. The squadron will depart in two serials from Rose Barracks, Germany and conduct a tactical road march with over 800 Troops to Orzysz, Poland on Oct. 9 and Oct. 11, 2017.

The Battle Group Poland tactical road march will have two serials. The first serial will be led by Lt. Col. Scott Cheney, commander of the 3rd squadron, and the second serial will be led by Maj. Ryan Duffy, the operations officer for 3rd squadron.

Both serials will travel through the town of Frankenberg, Germany to the Polish border and upon arrival in Poland, the squadron will pass through Powidz.

The second serial will have an engagement team of about 35 soldiers to include a contingent from the United Kingdom. The team will conduct static displays in Bydgoszcz, Oct. 14, and in Elblag, Oct. 15, with both engagements starting around 10 a.m.

Each eFP unit is led by a framework nation but is comprised of multinational forces and capabilities. The Battle Group Poland is fully operational and has been joined by Romania, U.K., and Croatia. The alliance with our NATO allies stands united in the face of any possible aggression.

Upon arrival to Poland, 3rd squadron will begin their transition with 2nd squadron, to assume responsibility over the battle group. A transfer of authority ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 20, 2017 in Orzysz, Poland.
