DAEGU, Republic of Korea- The 403rd Army Field Support Brigade conducted their change of command and change of responsibility ceremony June 28 at Camp Walker here.
The ceremony symbolized the 403rd AFSB's change in leadership from the outgoing command team of Col. Mike Siegl, and Command Sgt. Maj. Kendricks Gamble to the incoming command team of Col. Renee Mann and Command Sgt. Maj. Petra Casarez.
An awards presentation was conducted before the ceremony where Siegl and Gamble received the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal respectively. Both also received several recognitions from the Republic of Korea for their service in strengthening the alliance between the two nations.
Siegl spoke about the tremendous work that the unit has done in supporting the 8th U.S. Army on the Korean Peninsula. He thanked the unit and other leaders from around Korea for their work on behalf of the command's personnel.
Mann said she looks forward to upcoming challenges and that she has confidence in her new unit's ability to succeed.
The ceremony was officiated by Maj. Gen. Edward Daly, senior commander of Rock Island Arsenal and commanding general of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command.
Daly spoke about how well the 403rd has supported units on the Korean peninsula.
Dignitaries in attendance included several members of the Republic of Korea military, as well as friends and families from the two command teams. Approximately 200 people attended the ceremony.
