HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The National Defense Industrial Association - Tennessee Valley Chapter gathered at the Jackson Center April 24to celebrate the recipients of their 2017 awards.

Annually, NDIA honors government and industry personnel in the area of leadership excellence, management and technology.

The award winners were nominated and evaluated by a panel of peer-industry and government judges based on several criteria, such as level of responsibility, achievements, contributions and community involvement. The awards acknowledge the talents of both individuals and a team.

"The awards recognize the tremendous accomplishments and talents that the individual or team bring to our nation's defense," said Jesse L. Barber, Army Materiel Command's ombudsman. "We all are focused on the Chief of Staff's top priority -- readiness -- and these awards demonstrate how these individuals have impacted readiness in a big way."

John Lyle, Army Contracting Command's deputy commander, served as the keynote speaker for approximately 150 guests and echoed this same sentiment.

"Industry is a team player in our mission of delivering what Soldiers need, when they need it. That's the bottom line for all of us in this room tonight--delivering combat readiness to the finest Army on the planet," said Lyle.
