CAMP WAR EAGLE, Iraq - On a clear and promising day, the 1st "Ironhorse" Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division held their mission assumption ceremony March 21 at Joint Security Station War Eagle, Iraq.

Ironhorse Soldiers uncased their colors and officially assumed the task of further securing their operating environment.

"This brigade combat team is here to assist and support the Iraqi Security Forces and the Government of Iraq in protecting the Iraqi people and advancing the quality of their lives," said Col. Tobin Green, the Ironhorse Brigade commander.

The ceremony was filled with local sheikhs, Iraqi National Police, Iraqi Army, and other Iraqi dignitaries that the Ironhorse Brigade will closely work with in the coming months.

Ironhorse leaders plan to work by, with and through the Iraqis in order to facilitate a safer environment for the people of Iraq.

"Together we will provide for the safety of the people of Baghdad and ensure a prosperous future for Iraq," confidently stated Green.
