AMCOM employees encouraged to attend Global Force Symposium

AMCOM employees can receive professional development credit for attending the Association of the U.S. Army Global Force Symposium and Exposition, set for March 13-15 at the Von Braun Center.

As noted in a memorandum from Lisha Adams, the executive deputy to the commander of the Army Materiel Command, supervisors may approve employees to attend in their official duty status without charge to leave or loss of pay, if determined that attendance will yield a professional development benefit.

Employees may request supervisor approval through the Training Information Program (TIP), at https://tip.redstone.army.mil, catalog number F172AGFSE. Once attendance is approved, employees must register at the AUSA 2017 registration link: http://ausameetings.org/globalforce2017/registration for badging and security purposes or on site at the symposium.

AUSA will provide bus transportation to the symposium from Redstone Arsenal. The bus route begins each day at 7 a.m. at Headquarters AMC, and includes stops at the Army Contracting Command, Program Executive Office for Aviation, Space and Missile Defense Command, Program Executive office of Missiles and Space, Sparkman Center and Logistics Support Agency. There will also be periodic stops at Candlewood Suites on Redstone.

For Sparkman Center employees, buses will be picking up at Building 5304 beginning at 7:25 a.m., and continuing throughout the day at 8:45, 9:55, 11:05, 12:15, 1:25 and 2:35 on March 13 and 14. Returns to Redstone Arsenal will run throughout the day with a final departure from the Von Braun Center at 5:50 p.m. On March 15, buses will pick up at building 5304 at 7:25, 8:45 and 9:55 a.m. and the final departure from the Von Braun Center will be at 12:30 p.m.

The theme for this year's Global Force Symposium and Exhibition is Delivering Capabilities for Multi-Doman Battle.

The symposium agenda for March 13 includes presentations by Gen. David Perkins, commanding general of the Training and Doctrine Command, at 8:30 a.m.; Gen. Gustave Perna, commanding general of the Army Materiel Command, at 9:30 a.m.; Winnings in Close Combat: Identifying Ground Force Capabilities for Multi-Doman Battle at 10 a.m.; Civilian Leadership Development at 1:40 p.m.; and Future Modernization to Enable Multi-Doman Battle at 3:30 p.m.

The March 14 agenda includes presentations by Robert Speer, acting Secretary of the Army, at 8:05 a.m.; Partnering with Academia and Industry Field Innovative Materiel Solutions at 8:30 a.m.; Talent Management Growing Tomorrow's Enlisted Leaders at 8:30 a.m., Military Family Programs at 9 a.m.; Lt. Gen. Arthur Gregg Leadership Award Presentation at 10 a.m.; and Sustaining a Multi-Doman Battle at 2 p.m.

On both March 13 and 14 there will be a Warrior Corner beginning at 10:30 a.m., an Innovator's Corner beginning at 11:40 a.m. and Tech Ten Presentations at 3:40 p.m.

The March 15 agenda includes Maj. Gen. Chris Hughes, Cadet Command, at 8:15 a.m.; Manuever Force Modernization Strategy at 8:45 a.m.; ROTC Panel at 9 a.m. and Tech Ten Presentations at 10:45 a.m.

The exhibit hall will feature more than 200 exhibits in the Von Braun Center's South and East Halls and outdoors. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on March 13, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on March 14 and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on March 15.
