FORT MYER, VA - Medal of Honor recipient Paul Bucha will present the expert infantryman badge (EIB) to Soldiers of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) at Conmy Hall at Fort Myer, Va., on Wednesday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m.
Bucha received the Medal of Honor for valor during the Vietnam War. He has recently served as a foreign policy and military affairs advisor to Pres. Barack H. Obama during the 2008 Presidential campaign.
The EIB is awarded to Soldiers who can prove they have mastered 32 tactical tasks essential to the infantryman's trade. These tasks include operating night vision goggles, administering first aid, and the use of hand grenades, claymore mines, and other weapons.
A total of 276 Old Guard Soldiers went to Fort A.P. Hill, Va., for 16 days to train and be tested for the badge. They will complete testing on March 24, then return to Fort Myer, where successful candidates will receive the badge at the ceremony.
