Old Guard honors "Backbone of the Army"

FORT MYER, Va. - The 3rd United States Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), will be marching in an Army Full Honor Review in honor of The Year of the Non-commissioned Officer at Conmy Hall here at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The review will include The United States Army Band (Pershing's Own), Old Guard Soldiers from B Company and C Company, Soldiers in period uniform from the Revolutionary War, World Wars I and II, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and Continental Color Guard.

Sergeant Major of the Army Kenneth O. Preston will be the host for the ceremony along with Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. George W. Casey and Secretary of the Army Pete Geren.

The review will also feature the 2008 NCO of the Year, Staff Sgt. Michael Noyce-Merino and 2008 Soldier of the year, Sgt. David Obray as they assist SMA Preston in inducting a group of NCOs from the National Guard and The Old Guard.
