HOHENFELS, Germany -- The Joint Multinational Readiness Center's observer, coach, trainers (OCT) from the Warhog Team returned from a week of mentoring Romanian OCT's and refining the long-range plan for JMRC's continued engagement with Romanian forces at the Cincu Training Center, Romania, Jan. 20-26.
One of the outputs from Warhog's Mobile Training Team Initiative's (WMI) trip in November 2016 was to implement a future exchange of Soldiers and to extend the plan to provide instruction to Cincu's leaders and noncommissioned officers tasked with training Romanian OCTs for future training rotations.
"The January trip was a follow-through of the WMI plan to train OCT's at Cincu," said Maj. Scott Basso, Warhog Operations Officer OCT. The main effort of this mission was to conduct an OCT Academy in Cincu, drawing from lessons learned in Hohenfels, to help train Romanian OCTs in their own training center.
Sgt. 1st Class Michael Perez, Commandant of JMRC's Observer, Coach, Trainer Academy, joined Basso and Command Sgt. Maj. Steven Chandler, Warhog's Command Sergeant Major, with the instruction, graduation and certification of 68 new Romanian soldier OCTs.
Chandler also spent time with Romanian counterparts refining points of instruction and assisting with NCO development and mentorship.
Brig. General Gheorghita Vlad, Commanding General of the Cincu CTC, attended the graduation ceremony for the academy.
"The recent WMI effort also confirmed dates for exchange of OPFOR and training OCTs in the JMRC training area starting with the Combined Resolve 8, scheduled for May, 2017," said Basso.
In the near future the Cincu CTC will send six of their platoon leaders and NCOs to shadow JMRC's permanent opposing forces, the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, during Combined Resolve 8 in preparation for training rotations at JMRC in late 2017.
JMRC Warhogs plan to continue facilitating exchange and increase OCT interoperability with the Romanian Army. As the training and exchange program matures, JMRC and Cincu CTC will increase their troop force and training capabilities.
